Plans are at council!

We received an email yesteray from EB saying our plans had been submitted to council.  Very exciting news!  Now we wait.....

We did our electrical appointment last week and that was relatively painless.  So now our colours/kitchen/electrical/tiles are all done.  I guess this is where the waiting game really begins.  Our start date isn't until the end of February.  Kind of glad we have Christmas thrown in the middle to distract us from it all :)

Colour selection day......done and dusted!!!!

We did it.   All our selections are done.  That's it for us - no more display homes, no more driving around looking at colours, no more taking random photos of peoples homes to show Gav their driveways!!!!

So our selections......

External Colours

Kitchen, bathroom and paint

Our bathroom tiles & mosiac (wall tile will be white not grey)

And our floors....back tile will be throughout the house, darkest tile will be for the alfresco area.  Dark carpets for the dining and living rooms and light carpets for the bathrooms.

So that is our house!!!

We upgraded the kitchen sink to the one I liked better.  It is the Clark Quattro.
Our tapware was all in our standard range.
We are changing our showers to the semi-frameless shower.

As for the kitchen.  We are making the pantry a bit bigger so waiting to get the drawings still and then we will decide on other upgrades if needed.

Today took 4 1/2 hours so we were very happy to get in under the 6 hours we thought it would take!
Very happy with all our choices.

We went out to PGH on Saturday and chose our bricks/tiles etc.  That was relatively painless.
After that we went to Di Lorenzo and had the fun task of look at all the options we could choose from.  There were a LOT in the standard range.  So we looked at floor tiles, carpets and tiles for the bathroom.  At this stage, we have decided on everything but we have our colour consultation on Thursday so we will see if anything changes.  We have a rough idea on what we are looking for with our kitchen as well so hopefully it won't take as long as they have allowed for us (6 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Our plans have been submitted for BASIX approval so that is exciting.  Don't really know what it means but it is nice to have dates against all the things that have to be sorted before they can start building!

Will have pictures to share after our appointment on Thursday.

The Land is ours!!!

At 2pm today, our land settled!  Hooray!!!!  Such a weird feeling though.  We don't have keys to it nor do we get to move in.  All I have is the memory of the phone call to say it settled - nothing even in writing yet!!!!

Hopefully the sold sticker is on there so I can at least go and get a photo of that.

We met with Tanya at Eden Brae this morning and went through the contract and signed our lives away!!!  We made a few more changes to the plans but are now very happy with our little house.  Here are the plans!!

Tender accepted

We emailed Tanya about a few more changes, got prices on those changes and then we signed our tender acceptance!
Next step is signing the building contract then getting everything through council.

On the land front - we settle on the 27th of October.

Can't wait to get our drawings!!! Our scheduled start date is the 28th February 2012.

Colour choices

We spent the day driving around and looking at display homes to get colour ideas.
I think my brain has officially fried. So many choices....so many that were close to what we like but not quite what we wanted.
The last place we went had some colour boards with pretty much exactly the colour scheme we were after!
Both of us are exhausted tonight. Who knew picking colours could be so draining.

Our plans so far

On the 4th September (Father's Day!!!), we paid our holidng deposit on our block of land.  Earlier this week, we paid the balance of our deposit and we are looking at settling at the end of October.
We had been looking at Eden Brae homes and they had a house drawn up to suit our block....happened to be the design we had been looking at already.  So we paid our deposit with Eden Brae on the 8th September.  Busy week.

This week, we met with Tanya at Eden Brae's head office and went through our tender.  Naturally, when we got home I thought of a few things that we were supposed to ask her so I have to email her about those!!!!  Overall though, it is looking good.

We decided to go and have a look at a few colour options.  There are so many choices.  Spending the weekend trying to find something we both like and hopefully agree on it.

Holy cow we're building a house!!!!!
